Your Housing Assignment Transfers are not grouped in with beginning students as their needs are different. Transfers are placed with other transfer students so that they may be with a similar peer group partaking in similar experiences. Likewise, the freshman housing program is designed under the same premise. Beginning new students are more successful if they are housed within a peer group where their special needs can be met more effectively through programming and one-to-one interaction with the residential living staff. The Resident Assistants on the freshman and transfer floors are provided with special training to assist new students in their transition to Lambuth and college life in general. Building Successful Roommate Relationships Occasionally, however, difficulties develop between roommates who differ in their opinions, beliefs, and lifestyles. It is important o remember whenever such situations arise, that each person is a unique individual with their own perspecitive. If a problem does arise between you and your roommate, you are encouraged to discuss the issue with them and try to resolve it through understanding and compromise. Honest discussion of problems can often alleviate further conflict, and actually strengthen your relationship. Roommate contracts are usually a valuable tool for dealing with these types of conflicts and can be obtained through the office of Residential Living. If you feel like you need assistance in dealing with roommate problems, you are encouraged to talk to yor Resident Assistant. They are specifically trained in conflict mediation, and will be willing to help you work out the difficulties you encounter. You may also contact Lambuth's professional counselor if you feel you need further assistance. |
